Concert Orchestra (audition required)

The Concert Orchestra consists of students from grades 9-12 who have meet all of the audition requirements as determined in the spring of the previous school year. This class meets daily. Students in Concert Orchestra study a variety of musical repertoire for their specific ensemble, including full orchestra opportunities in the spring. The Concert Orchestra has rehearsals, concerts and festivals throughout the year, which occur outside of the standard school day (about once a month). Members of the Concert Orchestra are expected to maintain their eligibility by being held accountable for passing all playing and written exams during the year. In addition to developing their playing skills, Concert Orchestra students develop knowledge of music history and music theory. Students interesting in playing in the Symphony Orchestra but do not feel they are at the appropriate level quite yet are highly encouraged to audition for Concert Orchestra.
